Garden Tours

The garden was on the Orcas Island Garden Club's 2005 Garden Tour

Sign for the tourOn July 30th and 31st, over 170 people came to visit the garden on the Orcas Island Garden Club's Annual Garden Tour. We were surprised at how well the garden held up to so many visitors, in fact the garden seemed to been charged by all of the admiring energy. We could feel it glowing afterwards and there was no sign of any wear or tear.

When the club first invited us to have the garden on their tour, I declined, partly because of my concerns over the traffic issues and partly because the timing of the event was in June and I knew that the garden would not be ready.

I was surprised when they called back and changed the date to late July. I knew it would be beautiful by then and I felt a willingness from the garden, so I decided to say yes and just let go of my worries.

Visitors by the gateAs it turned out, these 2 days were a highlight of my life. It was such a joyous occasion to have so many people come to the garden throughout the day and say so many nice things about all of the plants and the garden design. They were really moved my the combination of vegetables and flowers and the way the paths wander through the garden.

The idea of garden rooms was of particular interest and the Center Room with its Woolly Thyme carpet was a marvelous example for them. It was clear to see that most people were experiencing something new and it was inspiring them.

Most everyone commented on how big and healthy everything looked. Raspberry Heaven was a hit and many people wanted to know the secret to growing great raspberries. I explained to some, the metaphysical backdrop for how Raspberry Heaven came to be.

One young man commented jokingly, as he left, that he was going to start petting the leaves of his raspberries every day. Therapeutic Touch isn't quite like that, but I think he got the idea to really pay attention and love his plants.

Overview of the garden and tourA few people who had been to Findhorn in Scotland were able to connect to the greater energy of this garden. They recognized it right away and felt very excited to be experiencing it here. They left as many others did, realizing that it was a possiblity for them, too.

Anthony and I found it especially fun to take people on a tour around the garden and share the story of how it came to be. The Dragonfly Garden is really an ongoing love story full of lessons on listening, loving, following our intuition, and working in conscious cooperation with Nature.

What a blessing to be able to share it with others!
